Opportunity for students to publish, create multimedia

Navigating the Real World, Inc. is a nonprofit organization that seeks to bridge the gap between schooling and the world beyond. It focuses specifically on collecting and publishing the stories of people in their mid to late 20s who have valuable experiences to share with people coming along behind them. It began operations in Maine and is planning to expand into New Hampshire beginning this fall and to Vermont and elsewhere in New England after that.

The interviews that the organization collects are viewable in video at the web site, www.NavigatingTheRealWorld.org. The organization published its first printed (tabloid format) edition and distributed it to all Maine high school students in late April. It is comprised in large part of excerpts from the interviews that are at the site. A link to a pdf of this first edition is in the right column of the home page. The organization is interested in having UNH students take part in the creation of the New Hampshire statewide editions. In New Hampshire we plan to involve students this fall from a few high schools to do interviewing for us that we can use in New Hampshire statewide editions with the aim of publishing our first issue shortly after the first of the year.
Anyone interested should contact Lisa Miller at lc.miller@unh.edu
